'Deer And Fox' is a striking cut from Clara Moto's 'Polyamour' album, released on Infiné last year. To give it a bit of perspective she has recruited a variety of remixers, giving the track some intriguing makeovers. Perhaps inevitably the one by Stacey Pullen is the most memorable, a percussive techno workout that feels perfectly paced and rhythmically alive. The DOP remix brings intriguing elements of the track to the surface, the vocal given the room it needs for the catchy hook to take hold,...
Not content with the damage his label has already done this year, Adam Beyer ups the pressure further by hooking up with Alexi Delano again and unleashing a lethal pair of stripped down killer bazookas, one on the mothership label, the second ejaculating from his Mad Eye offshoot where anything is allowed to go off. 'Sleep Horn' [Great title but what can he mean?] buffs the goat's helmet with a scorched circuit ripsnorter which builds on metallic pulses, interesting big-log-in-the-pan ploop loop...
Cari Lekebusch's H Productions follow his belting State Of The Art album with another of the country's finest exports as Jesper Dahlback uncorks three simple but deadly realignments of the now traditional minimal style he helped pioneer. 'Cvan' is nearly ten minutes of throbbed-up propulsion focusing around a mutating kick-bass pulse and insidious percussive surgery, topped with eerie string slashes somewhat recalling ESG's 'UFO'. 'Cripx' goes darker and denser in the undergrowth, motoring throu...

Adam Beyer's Drumcode has been uncorking enough merciless scrotum-savaging crowd-busters lately to breeze to the upper echelons of the Techno Premiere league table this year. Fast-rising DJ- producer Alan Fitzpatrick now trailers his stunning upcoming album, Shadows In The Dark with a three-pronged attack of bass-propelled resonance, starting with the pounding, static-washed title cut, which builds with submarine blips swelling into full-on boom action. 'Alphascanner' rides a robotic gallop befo...
If my addled brain cells are behaving, I first encountered Sweden's prolific Mr Lekebusch in the mid 90s when he started releasing the Fred 12s on Missile. Since then, the man has refined his deadly sonic weapons into finely-honed instruments of mass destruction, using subtlety as much as powerhouse force to wreak carnage on the floor. These two singles trailer his upcoming artist album, which is an absolute barnstormer. 'Macabre', which caused a commotion on our fnoob.com radio show last week, ...

Nothing to do with the last gang in town, but the massively-impressive Plus 8 artist debut of Neopolitan techno veteran Danilo Vigorito, who previously impressed round these parts with his fantastic remix of Pastime's 'Kriket'. 'Prima' builds with old school elements worked into the current stripped down sound topped with swishing effects before going off like a pressure cooker. 'I Saw The Light' plants Eastern-flavoured drone over percussive death rattle flickers. Continues Plus 8's current glo...
With his Drumcode imprint continuing to jettison sphincter-busting corkers on a regular basis, Adam has also set up Mad Eye to indulge his more personal flights, here unleashing a pummelling monster of Godzilla stiffie propertions. The title cut retains his relentless momentum, showing how much damage can be caused using just a juggernaut bass-drum bedrock and whooshy noises, taking no prisoners on a big system. The ten minute 'Follow Your Eyes' goes deeper and darker but is possibly even deadli...
In a way it’s frightening that it’s coming up for 20 years since I reviewed Slam’s first single, ‘Eterna’, before embarking on a mission which, until recently, saw me strive to review every thing they did [and also put out on their equally-as-long-running Soma label]. It did come as a surprise at first to see their name emblazoned on another label, but the fact that it’s Adam Beyer’s Drumcode makes perfect sense. It also appears to have given Stuart MacMillan and Orde Meikles a licence to get do...
Lovely techno fairy-tale here as the currently on-a-roll Christian Smith remixed Carl Craig’s classic then sent it to the man himself, who loved it and gave permission for the mixes to be released on Tronic. Who won’t fall heads over heels in love with Smith’s utterly respectful but spectacular two versions? The Tronic Treatment homes in on the nagging synth motif, soaring strings and bottomless orchestral counter melodies, while the Hypnotica remix concentrates more on setting up a metronomic g...
Second outing from Semtek on Don’t Be Afraid charts engaging deep techno waters which is duly handed on a throbbing sonic cushion for three different titled mixes: as ’Idiotville’ dubstepped up by Bioviolence, ‘Idiotcity’ turned into deep, swirling techno by Kris Wadsworth and ‘Idiotopolis’ heralding his brazen new approach to electro.Multi-faceted fun-pack.4 Out Of 5Reviewed By: Kris Needs...
Always a reliable label, Bristol’s Aux highlight Cornwall-based Jamie Smithson on some dirty techno-funk growling along on a nasty bassline and crisp beats lashed with vocal clips, which are then turned over to three diverse remixers. U&A and Sinister’s Mike Hulme hotwires the original’s testicles with prodigy-style riff action, Canine Sounds strip it down and jack it up to floor-shaking effect and Roscoe ‘Arrow’ Williams takes the electro route with sirens adding to the overall cataclysmic ...
