South Australian DJ and producer Steve Hart is known for producing all shades of house music during his musical career spanning a couple of decades, Steve’s productions and remixes have landed on labels such as Vicious, LW Recordings, Central Station, Poolside, and 405 Recordings, among others. In recent years, he’s had several successful releases on his own label Shoosh Records, including ‘That Funky Jazz’, ‘Arms Of Mine’, ‘You Take Me’ and ‘Do It Again’. As he teams up with Clio (aka Danielle Bellas) on the Disco House outing ‘Whateva U Want’, DMCWorld goes Trainspotting with Steve Hart.
Steve Hart & Clio – Whateva U Want – Shoosh Records
My latest record with the ultra talented Clio on the vocals here. I’ve been playing this in my sets testing it out for a good 6 months now, and I love watching people react every time I play it – feet are tapping, heads are bopping and hands go up in the air! I’m really excited to get this one out into the world as I feel it’s a great representation of myself as a producer and the sound that making. It feels ‘current’, but has that throwback classic house vibe that I love – combined with Clio’s vocals, it still gives me a shiver when I play it. I really hope people dig it as much as I do.
Jamie Jones & Jazzy – We Groovin – Helix Records
This is a straight up dance floor jam! I’m a big fan of Jamie and his Hot Robot Radio show and love the musical vibe he puts out there, and ‘We Groovin’ ticks all the boxes for me. A PHAT funky bassline combined with an amazing piano line, all topped of by an incredible catchy vocal – a classic house vibe I could listen to over and over again.
Jack Truant – Sun Will Shine – Motive Records
Good pal of mine Jack Truant’s latest weapon – another classic piano record that oozes class. Out on the Motive label – possibly the best in Australia for quality house music. I love all their releases, and this one is a staple in my sets.
Mike Dunn – Rock Ya Body (Deepa) – Nu Groove Records
This record is such a vibe. It works in so many situations and gets toe tappin’ and heads boppin’. A simple but effective vocal and great synth work. This is one of Mike Dunn’s more recent, but again I’m a big fan and have been playing many of his records for a while now.
Zach Witness – Can’t Get You Outta My Head – Defected
Another straight up dance floor weapon! Flippin the original sample into a new fresh take which I absolutely love.
James Curd & Mark Maxwell – Magnetic – Motive Records
Another record out of the Motive label. This one by my mate Mark Maxwell & James Curd – both producers at the top of their game! This ones a real driving record – big drops, but funky af breaks with a cool vocal in there as well. It always gets good reaction.
Bleu Clair – Hold On feat. Tania Foster – Terminal Underground
I’ve been playing a lot of Bleu Clairs records for a while now – also check out his song “Step Into It”, which I’m still hammering on the weekly. I love the way Bleu mixes his tougher tech sound with funkier house elements, making his records playable in many different situations. Hold On has a real classic synth vibe, while getting tough on the drops making dance floors move with delight. I’ll probs still be playing this one for a while yet.
Johnny Corporate – Sunday Shouting (TSHA remix) – Defected
Always hard to remix an absolute classic record, but I love this version from TSHA. Its a fresh take on the original, recognisable, but different in its own unique way it’ll have the crowd clapping along whether they remember the original or are hearing this one for the first time.
Dr Don Don – King Of The Stars (Romy Black Remix) – Tinted Records
Aussie disco maestro Romy Black remixes this Dr Don Don release into his signature bumpy disco groove and it does the business every time! Catchy, funky and just cool af! It has all the elements I love in a record.
Motiv – Dance With You – Municipal Recordings
I’m a big fan of Motiv who have been consistently releasing quality house records and this one is just so cool! Its soulful, happy and gets me moving with its classic house vibe. Check out the other Motiv records – you won’t be disappointed.
Steve Hart & Clio ‘Whateva U Want’ (Incl. Random Soul Remix) is out now on Traxsource and streaming / Worldwide release August 2nd 2024 on Shoosh Records.
