Samantha Loveridge is a woman of many talents with a deep passion for all things music. She has a tasteful sound that draws on deep, afro and melodic influences and has played at iconic venues such as Space Ibiza and Sankeys Manchester. Residing in Sydney, her productions earn her a regular place in the Beatport Charts and receive playtime from the likes of Black Coffee, Jimi Jules and Rüfüs Du Sol. As she join forces with Treetalk for a cover of the R.E.M. classic, ‘Losing My Religion’, DMCWorld goes back to mine with Samantha Loveridge.
Patsy Cline – Crazy
I’m Romany Gypsy and was brought up on Country Music. This is a song I hold dear in my heart and reminds me of my childhood. A Country Classic.
Rufus & Chaka Khan – Ain’t Nobody
I think I was born in the wrong era because I’m a 70’s and 80’s girl at heart. I’ve always loved this song and it wasn’t until my teenage years that my Dad told me it was my Mum’s favourite. I now know who I get my good taste from.
Delilah – Breathe
Delilah is an artist whose voice makes me crumble. Her album, From The Roots Up, is something I always come back to. I had the honour of watching her perform in an intimate basement at the heart of Manchester’s City Centre and she sounds just as good live if not better. She’s at the top of my list of singers I would love to work with.
Aaliyah – If Your Girl Only Knew
I’m a 90’s Baby and Aaliyah’s death was a great tragedy. She was like no other and taken too soon. The beat on this is so sexy.
SBTRKT – Wildfire
Something about this song just does it for me. I highly rate SBTRKT as a producer.
Moderat – Bad Kingdom
It was hard to choose between this and the DJ Koze Remix because I love both! But I’ve gone with the original because the music video is more interesting to watch. I’m all for the wobbly bass!
Agoria – Remedy (Frankey & Sandrino Remix)
The original is gorgeous and every track from the remix package adds its own magic to bring it into an electronic DJ set. However, this is the remix for me. I believe it was only released on Vinyl.
Sefton – Stranded For Passion (Maceo Plex Remix)
I will never forget the moment I first heard this one. Afterlife at Privilege, Ibiza in 2016 and Maceo Plex was playing. I made it my mission to find it afterwards! Everytime I play it in my sets it gets a great reaction. How can you not love it?
John Talabot – Machine (John Talabot Synthedit)
This is another track I vividly remember hearing for the first time. Amsterdam, DGTL festival 2015. Âme was playing the closing set and this track stood out by a mile for me. The energy in the room lifted when he dropped this. Again, I made it my mission to find it afterwards. It’s a catchy synth for me. I’m a sucker for them! I believe this is another that was released on vinyl only.
Matthew Dekay – Heimreise
All I have to say about this track is that it’s perfection to me. Over nine minutes long and I’m not bored for one second.
Samantha Loveridge & Treetalk ‘Losing My Religion is out now on Get Physical.
